The Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, either wanting a change in leadership role or for this to be their first team leadership position, with a passion for making complex electronic ideas a reality.

As the Hardware Engineering Lead, you will be approving and reviewing the work of the Hardware Engineering team, as well as contributing and steering overall Product Engineering strategy in conjunction with your fellow engineering team leads and the Product Engineering Manager.

The day to day will be varied, but will have a focus on product development, along with collaborating closely with the operational side of the business to ensure that products that are in production are being supported in an appropriate manner.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Team leadership of the Hardware Engineering team.
  • Review and approve work output from the Hardware Engineering Team.
  • Work in conjunction with the Programme Manager, Product Owners and Product Engineering Manager in order to ensure that work packages are undertaken in the correct priority.
  • Develop the skills talent and pipeline within the Hardware Engineering team.
  • Be a leading technical voice in the development of the Hardware Platforms within the business.
  • Drive excellence in Hardware design and development process.
  • Interface with the Operations Engineering Manager to ensure that appropriate support is being given to that part of the business.
  • Be an advocate for Electrical Health and Safety within the business.


What We Are Looking For:

  • Highly Motivated individual with a track record of electrical/electronics design.
  • Degree educated in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (BEng minimum).
  • Clear understanding and experience in PCB design and manufacture.
  • Experience of directly working with Altium and the SolidWorks PDM vault.
  • Sound understanding of key communications technologies such as Ethernet, USB, Serial etc.
  • Working knowledge of CAD.
  • Clear and confident communicator.


Desirable, but not essential:

  • Working experience of SolidWorks Mechanical and Electrical.
  • MEng in electrical or electronics engineering.
  • Experience of high availability and reliability electronics design.
  • Previous experience of leading a team.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or demonstratable progress towards this with the intention of applying within the next year or so.
