PRESS RELEASE: MP visits ambitious UK Technology SME aiming to eliminate Railway Signal Failures across the globe

February 2, 2022

The Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox, MP for North Somerset, visited Viper Innovations at their headquarters in Portishead on Friday 28th January 2022.  Since the MP’s previous company visit in July 2012, Viper has undergone many changes, including winning multiple industry awards for their patented products, a change of company name, diversification into new industries as well as achieving significant growth, both financially and physically in the expansion of offices in SW England and in Aberdeen to accommodate their growing teams.

Today, Viper Innovations is a high-tech innovative & disruptive SaaS model business serving the subsea oil & gas, rail and other industrial sectors. The company’s growth has been considerably aided by their global success in the Subsea Oil & Gas Sector with 53% of sales coming from exporting alone between April and December in 2021. They are now looking to mirror their export success within the Rail Sector and take their Network Rail approved ‘CableGuardian’ product around the globe.

Edward Davis, Managing Director of Viper Innovations, commented “It was a pleasure to welcome The Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP to our premises and to share an overview of Viper’s journey through the years along with our key milestones and challenges.  It was particularly interesting to discuss our plans for growth in the Global Rail Markets and how the support of similar SME’s and the Rail Industry as a whole could help open new avenues for exports. Viper whole-heartedly supports the Rail Industry’s plans to ‘build back better’ with focus on the need for collaboration across the industry to maximise return on investment and to change the way the industry buys technology, to develop a vibrant export market for UK Rail SMEs.”

The MP was also interested to hear about Viper’s ambitious goals to become carbon-neutral and their recent purchase of a 31.5 acres plot of land near Stogumber, Somerset, which was purchased for carbon sequestration and rewilding.  Following a company presentation and lively discussion,  Dr Fox was introduced to Viper’s Software and Engineering apprentices and staff members whilst being shown around their on-site electrical engineering lab.
