Viper Innovations attended and presented at the Rio Oil & Gas conference which took place between the 26th and 29th September in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is organised by the Institution of Brazilian Oil & Gas (IBP) and operated in a hybrid format, with presentations taking place both digitally and in person.

The event was very successful and set a string of records: there were 58,000 participants in the 4 days of the event, 52 thousand m² of exhibition area, more than 400 exhibitors, 9 international pavilions, 266 hours of in-person content and 450 hours of online content. After two years of virtual events and meetings, the industry filled the corridors of the six warehouses on the Olympic boulevard, in Rio downtown area.

The conference discussed topics related to all segments of the Oil & Gas industry – from offshore to onshore, E&P to energy transition, digital transformation, upstream to downstream and many other areas. Viper’s Co-founder and Director, Neil Douglas, presented a digital session on ‘Copper Loss in Subsea Umbilicals – The Consequence of Insulation Resistance Failure’. This will be available on the IBP Digital Library from the 10th October, so keep an eye out for the link to this which will be shared on our company LinkedIn page once available.

The event was attended in person by Viper’s Business Development Manager for Brazil, Diego Baraldi, who commented:

“There was a great optimism with Oil & Gas operators offering updates on their upcoming projects based in Brazil. There were good discussions on the role of Brazil in the global supply of energy, now that we have become an Oil & Gas exporter and also have a great potential on renewables. It became very clear that Brazil will gain even more importance in securing energy supply for the world.”
