Viper Extends North American Connections and Opportunities for Growth

May 16, 2023

In alignment with Viper’s international growth strategy, the company’s sales team have been building connections and growing opportunities across the Atlantic in North America. Recent visits include attending the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) and the OGV Energy networking golf day, along with customer meetings in both the USA and Canada.

Viper’s Commercial Sales Manager, Thomas McCudden, attended the OTC event which takes place annually in Houston, Texas. Sponsored by 13 non-profit organisations, it provides a platform for worldwide energy professionals to exchange scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental matters.

This year’s conference hosted 1000+ exhibitors, 300 technical presentations and 45 technical sessions across its 250,000 square ft of exhibit space. The event’s main theme focused on delivering the future of offshore energy, with popular presentation topics including offshore wind, renewables, carbon capture and the energy transition. Overall, the mood was upbeat and there was a confident outlook towards the future of the Gulf of Mexico as a key global energy provider.

Prior to the conference, Viper was involved with the sponsorship of the OGV Energy networking golf day at Houston’s Tour 18 golf course, encompassing the best holes from the PGA tour. Thanks to Thomas’ fellow team members Andy Powrie of Arnlea Systems, Robert MacKay of Oneglobal Broking and Steven Bolt of ePlus for a great day!

During his time in Houston, Thomas met with existing customers who are maximising the life of their subsea assets through Viper’s V-LIFE technology. Many positive conversations were also had with Operators who were interested in incorporating Viper’s award-winning products and services into their asset management strategy, with plans made for future collaborations.

Thomas also visited St John’s in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador during his North American trip, to visit an existing V-LIM user experiencing insulation resistance (IR) issues in a subsea umbilical. This was identified as an opportunity for the customer to use V-LIFE to increase IR and prevent a potential future system failure.

Thomas commented: “As always it was great to continue to build relationships at OTC this year, as well as having the opportunity to showcase our technology to Operators in North America. Viper is building a good technical track record within the continent and I look forward to this increasing over the coming year.”
