Tiebacks 2026: What operators are really saying about offshore electrical integrity

Following our time at Subsea Tieback Forum & Exhibition 2026 in New Orleans, we’ve taken a step back to reflect on what we heard from operators, engineers, and project teams across offshore oil and gas.

Events like this are always valuable for the detail you only really get when you’re speaking to people face to face — what they’re dealing with day to day, what’s shifting in priority, and where the real pressure points are.

From those discussions, a clear set of themes came through around offshore electrical integrity, asset life extension, supply chain execution, and the growing need for better operational visibility.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what we’re seeing on the ground.

1. Strong recognition of V-LIFE performance is shaping decision confidence

One of the strongest signals we picked up was how consistently V-LIFE performance is recognised in offshore environments.

Operators are increasingly basing decisions on what’s already been proven in the field, rather than theoretical capability. In areas like offshore electrical integrity, confidence is coming from systems that have demonstrated reliability in real operating conditions.

More and more, the expectation is that technologies need to have a track record in the field before they’re seriously considered.

For us, it really reinforced how important V-LIFE’s installed performance history is in building confidence during technical evaluation and procurement discussions.

2. Growing operator demand for upgrade solutions and tech advancemenets

We also noticed a clear and growing level of interest in our technology advancements and upgrade solutions, particularly where operators are focused on extending asset life across mature offshore infrastructure.

A lot of the discussion here was grounded in practical considerations. Operators are looking for ways to get more life out of existing assets without major intervention or disruption, which naturally puts upgrade-led approaches in a much stronger position than full replacement.

The detail in those discussions was around how enhanced solutions can support better monitoring and integrity management while still fitting within real offshore operational constraints.

Overall, it’s a clear sign that demand for upgrade pathways continues to build.

3. A gap between demand and adoption across parts of the supply chain

One thing that came up more than once was a mismatch between what operators are asking for and how quickly some parts of the wider supply chain are moving.

In a number of cases, operators are already actively looking for V-LIM capability, but delivery timelines and implementation speed are being influenced by slower adoption across certain providers and integration routes.

That gap between demand and execution is something that stood out, particularly in more complex offshore projects where multiple parties are involved.

4. Increasing demand for PlatformVi reporting and structured insight

Another consistent theme was the growing demand for PlatformVi reporting.

Operators are moving beyond just wanting access to data — they want something structured and usable that actually helps them make decisions around offshore electrical integrity.

The focus now is on clarity and actionability. Reporting needs to plug into how teams already work and help surface issues earlier, rather than just presenting information that still needs interpretation.

That shift is part of a broader move toward more proactive, insight-led asset management across offshore oil and gas.

What this means for offshore operations

Taken together, what we heard points quite clearly in one direction.

Operators are:

  • placing more weight on proven field performance like V-LIFE
  • showing stronger interest in tech advancements and upgrade solutions
  • feeling the friction between demand and how quickly the supply chain responds
  • and looking for more structured visibility through Platform Vi reporting

In practical terms, it all points toward the same shift — more evidence-led decision-making, more focus on extending asset life, and a stronger expectation for integrated insight across offshore electrical systems.

Final reflection from Tiebacks 2026

What stood out most wasn’t any single product or technology, but the consistency in what operators are prioritising across offshore oil and gas.

The focus is very clear: keep production reliable, extend asset life where possible, and improve visibility through solutions that are proven and practical to deploy.

If these themes reflect what you’re seeing in your own operations, we’re always happy to share more from what we’re hearing across the market.
