Following our time at Subsea Tieback Forum & Exhibition 2026 in New Orleans, we’ve been reflecting on what we heard from operators, engineers, and project teams across offshore oil and gas.

What stands out from events like this isn’t just the presentations—it’s the detail you only get in conversation: what teams are dealing with day to day, where priorities are shifting, and where the pressure is building.

Across those discussions, a few consistent themes came up—particularly around offshore electrical integrity, asset life extension, supply chain execution, and the need for better operational visibility.

Here’s a snapshot of what we’re hearing from operators right now.

1. Strong recognition of V-LIFE performance is shaping decision confidence

One of the strongest signals we picked up was how consistently V-LIFE performance is recognised in offshore environments.

Operators are increasingly basing decisions on what’s already been proven in the field, rather than theoretical capability. In areas like offshore electrical integrity, confidence is coming from systems that have demonstrated reliability in real operating conditions.

More and more, the expectation is that technologies need to have a track record in the field before they’re seriously considered.

For us, it really reinforced how important V-LIFE’s installed performance history is in building confidence during technical evaluation and procurement discussions.

2. Growing operator demand for upgrade solutions and technology advancements

We also noticed a clear and growing level of interest in technology advancements and upgrade solutions, particularly where operators are focused on extending asset life across mature offshore infrastructure.

Much of the discussion was practical. Operators are looking to extend asset life without major intervention or disruption, which naturally favours upgrade-led approaches over full replacement.

Within that, there was strong interest in evolving measurement and monitoring capability over time—building on existing systems rather than replacing them. That’s where the next step in our offering, V-LIM2, comes in, with extended measurement capability and improved support for long-term integrity decision-making.

Overall, it’s a clear sign that demand for upgrade pathways continues to build, especially where operators are trying to balance performance, risk, and cost in existing assets.

3. A gap between demand signals and delivery readiness across the supply chain

One thing that came up more than once was a gap between what operators are starting to look for and how quickly that can be supported end-to-end across the supply chain.

In some cases, operators are already exploring or specifying V-LIM capability. While standardisation across the industry has brought clear benefits over the past decade, it doesn’t always deliver everything operators need in practice, and it can reduce flexibility when requirements shift or more tailored solutions are needed.

It doesn’t feel like a single bottleneck. It’s more that demand is moving quickly, while different parts of the supply chain are adapting at slightly different speeds, especially given the current global pressures the industry is working through.

That tension between fast-moving requirements and a stretched, interconnected supply chain definitely stood out in the more complex offshore developments.

4. Increasing demand for PlatformVi reporting and structured insight

Another consistent theme was the growing demand for PlatformVi reporting.

Operators are moving beyond just wanting access to data — they want something structured and usable that actually helps them make decisions around offshore electrical integrity in real operational contexts.

The focus now is on clarity and actionability. Reporting needs to plug into how teams already work, support faster interpretation, and help surface issues earlier in the lifecycle, rather than simply presenting information that still needs to be analysed elsewhere.

What came through strongly is that this isn’t just about reporting formats — it’s about workflow. Teams want insights that fit naturally into existing decision-making processes, whether that’s planning interventions, prioritising maintenance, or assessing risk across ageing assets.

That shift is part of a broader move toward more proactive, insight-led asset management across offshore oil and gas, where visibility and timing are becoming just as important as the underlying data itself.

What this means for offshore operations

Taken together, what we heard points quite clearly in one direction.

Operators are:

  • placing more weight on proven field performance like V-LIFE
  • showing stronger interest in technology advancements and upgrade solutions
  • feeling the friction between demand and how quickly the supply chain can respond
  • and looking for more structured, actionable insight through Platform Vi reporting

In practical terms, it all points toward the same shift — more evidence-led decision-making, greater focus on extending asset life, and a stronger expectation for integrated insight across offshore electrical systems.

Final reflection from Tiebacks 2026

What stood out most wasn’t any single product or technology, but the consistency in what operators are prioritising across offshore oil and gas.

Across conversations, the direction of travel is clear: keeping production reliable, extending asset life where it makes sense, and improving how teams access and act on information through proven, practical solutions.

A big part of that is about moving from data to structured insight — whether that’s through upgrade pathways, improved monitoring capability, or more actionable reporting that fits into day-to-day decision-making.

If these themes reflect what you’re seeing in your own operations, we’re always happy to share more from what we’re hearing across the market.
