The Challenge: Low Insulation Resistance Threatens Subsea Production Control System
As part of ongoing asset management, the operator identified a critical drop in insulation resistance (IR) within a subsea production control system, with readings as low as 460kΩ. Low IR levels put subsea communications and production at risk, and traditional solutions—fault-finding interventions or full umbilical replacement—would be costly and time-consuming. The operator needed a fast, reliable, and non-intrusive solution to protect production continuity in the Gulf of America.
