CableGuardian unites two of our proven technologies — V-LIM for continuous insulation resistance monitoring and SSTDR for fault detection and location — to deliver complete visibility of cable condition, even while systems remain energised.

The CableGuardian system delivers a full-spectrum approach to electrical cable integrity. Our core technologies — V-LIM insulation monitoring and SSTDR (Spread Spectrum Time Domain Reflectometry) fault location — work together to provide real-time visibility of cable health.
By continuously monitoring insulation resistance, capacitance, and circuit integrity, we detect early signs of degradation, intermittent faults, and emerging failure risks. SSTDR enables rapid location of short or open circuits, even on live systems, without interrupting service.
This data is processed and visualised through CableGuardian, our intuitive, cloud-based analytics platform. The CableGuardian web portal
The CableGuardian Web Portal gives us secure, remote access to all system data from any connected device. Through intuitive dashboards and visual tools, we assess cable health, review alarms, and monitor long-term performance trends in real time.
Results are visible at a glance, while historical integrity data and degradation patterns can be analysed with ease. Configurable alarm and pre-alarm thresholds are displayed live, and data is automatically relayed to Network Rail’s Intelligent Infrastructure via standard RS485 communication.
Beyond rail applications, the platform provides scalable connectivity for organisations requiring centralised visibility of distributed electrical assets. As part of our Analytics for Preventative Insights capability, it supports the transition from reactive repair to predictive maintenance through intelligent data interpretation and trend analysis.

CableGuardian for the railway industry
Originally developed for the railway industry, we designed CableGuardian to meet Network Rail requirements and deliver complete monitoring and fault location across the Signalling Power Supply Network. The system replaces traditional manual testing with automated, real-time visibility of cable condition across thousands of kilometres of network infrastructure.
Analytics are delivered through the CableGuardian Web Portal, which we designed to be fully compatible with Network Rail’s Intelligent Infrastructure and ready for integration with the forthcoming RADAR Cloud. Configurable alarm and pre-alarm thresholds provide early warning of degradation, enabling action well before faults disrupt services.
Through close collaboration with Network Rail, we have demonstrated CableGuardian’s ability to detect, locate, and predict cable faults across more than one million metres of power cable. It has become the benchmark for digital cable monitoring and safety assurance in modern rail systems.
