Viper Innovations has won the 2018 PWC “Winner of Winners” Business of the Year Award for the South West, in the category for business with less than £30m turnover. Viper Innovations were recognised as an innovative company providing electrical distribution solutions for global industries. Having already won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Innovation among other industry accolades Viper Innovations deliver cutting edge technology and expert level consultancy services worldwide, solving real problems experienced on a day to day basis by many business in the offshore and transportation sectors.

One of Vipers major successes is V-LIFE, a technology that can reverse the detrimental effects of water ingress into subsea electrical cables without the need of cable recovery and replacement. Launched in 2012, V-LIFE has had global success providing companies with an alternative solution to replacing failing cables and equipment, providing significant cost savings to the oil and gas industry.

Viper Innovations have further developed their electrical engineering expertise by adapting their insulation monitoring technology for use in the rail industry at the request of the UK’s Infrastructure owner and operator. The outcome of this collaboration is CableGuardian, a comprehensive electrical network condition monitoring and fault finding system, typically used in trackside signalling. The technology provides companies with an alternative and highly cost effective solution to remediating faults due to cable insulation failure. By helping Network Rail minimise service interruptions the rail network can run more effectively. This product is not exclusive to the U.K. rail market and so future export opportunities for the Portishead based business look promising.
