Supporting Employee Wellbeing at Viper Innovations

October 31, 2025

At Viper Innovations, employee wellbeing is a core part of how we operate. We recognise that wellbeing spans mental, emotional, and physical health, and that it matters to everyone at different points in their personal and professional lives.

Creating an open and supportive environment helps ensure our employees feel valued, heard, and equipped to manage the various challenges that come their way. By encouraging open conversations and raising awareness, we aim to foster a workplace where individuals can perform at their best while maintaining a healthy balance.

Prioritising mental health in the workplace

This month, we held a company-wide Mental Health Awareness Month, designed to support, educate, and engage employees through a series of wellbeing-focused activities and sessions.

The programme was built around the goal of encouraging reflection, improving awareness, and ensuring employees are aware of the support available to them.

Guest speaker session on resilience and lived experience

We began with a session led by Steven Harris, Managing Director of Integrity QHSE and a guest speaker local to our Aberdeen office, with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.

Drawing on his personal experiences, including navigating challenging times following the loss of a colleague, Steven shared practical approaches to:

  • Supporting mental wellbeing
  • Building resilience
  • Developing self-awareness in both personal and professional contexts

The session provided valuable insight into how individuals and teams can better support themselves and one another.

Encouraging wellbeing through activity and community

As part of the initiative, employees took part in a company-wide litter pick, designed to encourage time outdoors, physical activity, and team connection.

Supported by our mental health first aiders, the activity also provided an opportunity for informal conversation and community engagement. Initiatives like this highlight the positive impact that time outside and shared activities can have on overall wellbeing.

Employee support resources: EAP awareness

Deanna Bleakman, Viper’s HR Manager, delivered a session on our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

The EAP is a confidential employee benefit that provides access to:

  • Professional guidance
  • Emotional support
  • Practical advice for a range of personal and work-related challenges

Raising awareness of this resource helps ensure employees know where to turn when additional support is needed.

Practical strategies for maintaining wellbeing

We concluded with a session from Dr Julie Hunt, Director of Medical Services at Integrity QHSE.

Dr Hunt shared practical strategies for maintaining and improving wellbeing, reinforcing the importance of treating mental health with the same priority as physical health. The session also provided actionable guidance on how employees can look after themselves and support colleagues.

Ongoing commitment to wellbeing

Mental Health Awareness Month provided us all with an opportunity to reflect, learn, and strengthen the support available across the organisation.

At Viper Innovations, we remain committed to maintaining a workplace culture that prioritises health, safety, and wellbeing, and to continuing to support our employees through ongoing initiatives, resources, and open communication.
