Viper Exhibits and Wins Company of the Year at Subsea Expo 2024

February 27, 2024

Viper Innovations exhibited at Global Underwater Hub’s Subsea Expo, which took place between the 20th – 22nd of February in Aberdeen. The event, which boasts being the world’s largest subsea exhibition and conference, welcomed 150+ exhibiting companies and over 6000 visitors from more than 60 countries during the 3 days of the event.

Free-to-attend, this year’s event took the theme of ‘Navigating the Blue Frontier’. It looked to emphasise the scale of the economic opportunity offered by the underwater industry, which includes oil and gas, offshore renewables, decommissioning, defence, aquaculture, marine science, telecoms, and cabling. 14 different conference sessions from 85+ speakers took place during the event, with many key industry topics such as energy security, energy transition and offshore wind discussed.

Edward Davies Interview with GUH

On the first day of the event, Viper’s Commercial Sales Manager Thomas Mccudden was interviewed by the OGV Group, where he introduced the V-LIM2, its features, benefits and how the product can effectively help operators.

On the event’s second day, Managing Director Edward Davies sat with Global Underwater Hub to discuss Viper’s growth and innovations.

‘The international growth side of the Subsea sector is key to us. It is part of our fundamental growth strategy to reach out into new territories. We started a new incorporation in America last year. We’ve got employees over there and more plan for this year and some really good work and success happening early this year…”

Introducing Viper’s latest product, V-LIM2, Edward Davies remarked.

“The first generation of V-LIM has been around for a while. It needed to have a refresh and be brought up to a higher spec for today’s requirements. Today’s requirements are more about how that data is presented and accessed by the customer. The V-LIM has done a great job and continues to do a great job, and it will still do a great job for people who have it as a legacy product. But we’re soft launching V-LIM2 at the show today and over the next few days and effectively over the course of the next 12 months that will become the staple replacing V-LIM. It will do the same thing but do them better, providing increased functionality and monitoring. More importantly, it will dovetail with PlatformVi, which is the online portal, which has been built by our engineers. And it’s a portal both for us, but also for the customer to access the data and use it to get more insights from the product itself”.

Everyone had a fantastic time at Wednesday evening’s Subsea Expo Awards ceremony. More than 500 attendees came together for an evening of celebration, entertainment, and a delicious three-course meal. Scottish impressionist and comedian Rory Bremner entertained guests with hilarious political satire all night.

Most importantly, during the Award Ceremony, Viper Innovations was awarded Company of the Year (Over 50 Employees). In his acceptance speech, Edward Davies remarked.

“Viper doesn’t exist in anything other than law, unless the people create that.” “This is very much an accolade for the team at Viper, so my thanks to them and my thanks to GUH for this, it’s amazing.”

Congratulations to all the award winners, and a big thank you to our guests for joining us: Scott Thompson from Shell, Rod Farquhar from Bridge, Ewen MacLean from Proserv and Claire Phillips from Baker Hughes.
